Jing Image

I used this image in my class. We were studying quadrilaterals. The only thing I didn't like was the way I could not get my text sized correctly to be able to see all of the text on the page.

Jing Screen Cast

I had trouble with this assignment just on posting it to my blog and figuring out where to find the URL. I hope I have it figured out. So this would be rhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifeally helpful if wanted to give directions for an online assignment and you were not able to give your students direct instruction. I am thinking work stations when I use Jing.

Eagle Cam

Photo Story

I love photo story. I think incorporating this type of technology into the chttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.giflassroom is a great idea. I know that I enjoy watching others lessons this way and I am sure that students enjoy watching a video over their teacher lecturing.

You Tube Video

Applian FLV player is one of the applications I tried to use to expropriate a you tube video. This particular player did not work. I am not sure if it was my computer or just that it doesn't work. I did not try another type of application. My computer froze up during the downloading process of this player.I think this may be something I will have to look into more in the future. I believe that my computer needs cleaned up before it can handle downloading additional files. I do think that I would like to find a program that would work to download videos and be able to publish them back on the computer.

Shorten URLs

I can give you a real good reason why URLs should be shortened...... they're too long!!!! No one can remember URLs if they are too long. Furthermore, if a URL is long it is likely people will not remember where they found a great site.

Jeopardy

The jeopardy assignment was great. I have wondered for years how all the other teachers I knew were able to create the games so easily. Now I know!

Jeopardy Lab

Voice Thread

I think that voice thread would be a great way to get student's feedback on a concept or skill that could be created by the teacher. I think that this type of application can be applied to all of the ISTE NETS for teachers.
1. Facilitate and inspire student creativity.
This would definitely facilitate student creativity. The student is able to upload photos and draw on the picture. Also the student can develop and express their own ideas.
2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and
Voice thread would be a great way to check for student's understanding of a concept.
3.Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
As teachers we are learning that papers and pencils are becoming nonexistent. Computers files have replaced the paper and now Voice thread can be another way for student's to express their ideas about particular subjects and skills.
4. Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
This type of artifact would help teach students about citizenship and responsibility to fellow students. Students would be learning about the types of appropriate comments and how to work together effectively.
5. Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership
As students see teachers growing within our profession and being excited about teaching them new skills that they have learned, I feel that spirit can be contagious and students will model the growth in they see in teachers. I often find that when I learn something new on the computer and I teach my students or discuss it with my students they are interested to try it for themselves or teach me more about how it works. Especially considering there are times when the students know more about some computer applications than what I know.

Podcasting

Podcasts are used to address these standards apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes, create original works as a means of personal, software download and installation, problem solving, communication, grhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifoup interactihttp://www.blogger.chttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifom/img/blank.gifon. I think that podcasts are really neat to be able to share with classes, especially if you have auditory learners. It is another way to deliver instruction that would work really well if you have students who are working at their own pace on some assignments or I think you could use this in class if you were trying to differentiate a lesson. You could record the podcast in audacity, upload and publish the podcast to podbean, and let students listen by accessing classroom computers and the internet. The grade level for my lesson is sixth grade, CSO RLA.O.6.1.11.

Prezi

I think that this activity is all about delivering lessons to diversified learners by teaching cso's through technology.I felt that prezi was not very user friendly. I think if I were to have more instruction on prezi creating lessons would be much more fun for the teacher and a lot less time consuming. I don't think that I would incorporate this type of presentation in my classroom unless I had more training to save myself a lot of time. I can see the students really enjoying this type of presentation and I can see how this type of presentation would help keep the students engaged in the lesson.

Power Point

The activity outcome says that we should be able to create and archive a graphic image and publish the presentation in a variety of ways. The SlideShare account gives us the opportunity to show that we can archive the graphic image and publish the presentation in a variety of ways. I did not have any trouble with this assignment, however, I still don't think that every graphic image or presentation that we show in class as teachers will always be entertaining for students. I do understand the reasons behind the military's power point woes, but as far as my teaching goes I think that it is difficult to always be presenting students with presentations that keep their attention.

Power Point

Survey for temperament

I am an idealist according to the survey. I think this information would be important in the learning environment because it would help teachers develop strong relationships with students to inspire their learning. Teachers may also be able to find some common personality traits among students and be able to group students so that they are inspiring each to learn.

APA Paper

This assignment was one of the most confusing. I think this assignment needs more directions. I do not think this assignment was clear about what we were supposed to do with the APA formatting.

The four temperments

I don't know which temperament I identify with the most. I don't feel like I can relate to any of them. I follow rules, always obey the law, speak of what I hope for in the future. I suppose the guardian and the idealist temperaments are the top two I identify with the most.

Grade Spreadsheet 2

The grade spreadsheet was a good way for me to brush up on my excel formulas. I had forgotten how to weight grades using excel. When I first started teaching, a lot of the older teachers would come in my room and want to know how I was averaging grades so quickly. I had set up my own excel spreadsheets to use at that time. Since then, the software program Grade Quick has become really popular. The school where I am currently working is requiring all of its teachers to use Grade Quick for this second semester.

Spreadsheet 1

I probably should not admit that I had an excel course at FSU a few years ago. I only had problems when I was trying to sort. At first I copied each terms averages into the semester 1 sheet and averaged the three columns. However, I could not sort the information the way I needed it to be sorted. I kept getting value errors. I looked at the discussion board and realized that I could just put all the terms averages and divide by three in one column and then sort. That worked for this assignment.

Google Forms

I liked this assignment. I think this assignment could be really useful. I wish I would have known how to be able to create forms like this many years ago. What a great way to obtain information very quickly. The person who created this was a genius.

Google Forms

Zoomerang / Blog Poll

This assignment was fun. I think that I could really use the survey to gain feedback from students about specific assignments, classroom design, or their classroom experience. The blog poll is just for fun. I am not sure how I will be able to use this in the classroom and put into real practice. I am still contemplating the poll.

Graphing Tools

I am hoping that I have completed this assignment correctly. I found this assignment to be a little tricky with publishing the document and trying to find the right information on the website we were given with the testing data. Then I found writing an executive summary to be a little vague considering the data was not broken down into exact problem areas and there was not an item analysis.

Wordle

I enjoyed the Wordle assignment. I am going to use this Wordle on my bulletin board at school.

Batchgeo Map

This project was interesting. I had no idea that you could create a map. This assignment was fun.

Jing Image

The only problem that I had with this assignment was downloading Jing. After files are downloaded using Mozilla you have to right click to open them and run. I downloaded Jing two times and I did not realize it. Then I was afraid the application would not work correctly because I kept getting messages saying that Jing was already running.

The image I chose was a Venn diagram used to show students how to find the least common multiple. This is a strategy that students can use to find LCM.
This is the link to the diagram.

Picasso Head

I created the Picasso Head and I was trying to use my computer and I couldn't seem to get anything to work the way I wanted. The only problems that I encountered while trying to complete this assignment had to do with my computer. I also tried to create a link with my picasso head, but then I decided to use the snipping tool and make the image part of my post.

Create your own Picasso Head

Snipping Tool

I had to use another computer that belonged to my parents in order to use the snipping tool. I have a computer that I bought new in 2006 which is now in the sense of technology "old". I did find a neat graph that I am hoping to use with my geometry students. I am hoping that when I add the image it works the way it should.

RSS?

I finished the assignment with the Google reader two days ago; I just haven't blogged about my experience. I realize that it was a little late, however, the class is moving so fast that sometimes I am not sure I can keep up. I think the Google reader can be a real time saver. I just wish that our school could be run this way. There are so many days while I am teaching that I don't even have time to check our daily bulletin or attendance. It is all sent to us by e-mail, but our computers at school are now ancient and it takes them forever to download the attachments and get the information to us in a timely manner. Everyday I think that I will find a few minutes in the morning to accomplish my goal, however it always seems that someone needs me for help with an assignment or some other task. I have often thought that 1. we need newer technology to keep up or 2. having one website that can catch us up on all the information we need for that day would be helpful. I am not sure what RSS means, but I understand the concept of the Google reader.

Browser Add-ons

A browser add on is a type of button that allows users to customize their browser. I think that these browser add-ons would be useful. I currently have only used the browser add-on for firefox that saves all of your most recently visited website addresses and allows you to access those addresses much faster. As for experience, I can’t say that I have ever used another browser other than Explorer. I do believe that the installation for Digo worked. I think that this activity would have matched either of the NETS standards for administrators or teachers. I think it could be used either way. The good thing about Digo is that it could be customized to be used as a professional learning communities or as a learning community for students.

Resume
If I had to describe myself using three words I would say mommy, mommy, mommy!! My interests are my family. I have two children Kelby 3, and Addy 9 months. My interests have grown out of being a parent. I like to read, travel with my family (read as going to the zoo, Idlewild, the park), and spending as much time as possible with my children and husband. Oh, and I hear those three words a lot!
